MARCH 15, 2019
The Rocky Mountain Folk club presents St Patrick’s Night with David Morrissey and Sonas.
David Morrissey hails from County Kildare, Ireland, but now lives in Calgary. He began his musical career in rock bands, but traditional music soon took over! A fine proponent of open DADGAD tuning, and inspired by the likes of Planxty and the Bothy Band, Dave has developed a rhythmic & percussive style of playing which has been described as the engine of sessions. Dave has performed with some of the top names in Irish music such as Frankie Gavin and Maurice Lennon.
He is joined by Sonas, pronounces “sunnis” and meaning happiness in Irish. Sonas features Emily Kirwan on fiddle; Dan Mills on flute, fiddle, whistles and vocals; Graham Wells on accordion and vocals, and Dave on guitar and tenor banjo.
Buy your tickets early – this is always our most popular night of the year!
Opening the evening will be Horizon Ridge, featuring multi-instrumentalists and singers, Dianne, Helen, Steve and Peter who take their inspiration from a whole world of music styles. A group of fine singers, songwriters and players with a passion for music, where nothing is off limits as long as the music is good!
