All Alberta Night

Sonia Deleo & Alice Jane / Leanne Lightfoot Trio / Brother Bicker Band

CONCERT: MAY 08, 2026

Sonia Deleo

Calgary-based musician, Sonia Deleo works in a striking half-pitch of knockout musical grandiosity and sensitive singer-songwriter poetics. Her warmth, wit and drama feel at home in all of the wide-ranging genres on her 2022 debut LP Love Notes to the Monsters. The album fuses folk, rock and blues, with her masterful vocals and unique perspective remaining at the focal point of the project. With her backing band, The New Dads, Deleo’s live shows are an engaging, comedic, blast of a time. Sonia showcased at CMW 2024 in Toronto in June, took the band on an Alberta tour in July, and played her first Canmore Folk Festival sets in August. She is currently working on a one-woman musical and a sophomore EP, with plans to bring her act on tour in the spring of next year.

Alice Jane

Alice grew up performing in the cafes and pubs of the northern beaches of Sydney, Australia. She now calls Calgary home, raising kids and playing gigs in cafes, bars and outdoor festivals throughout southern Alberta. Her sound blends the smooth qualities of Eva Cassidy and Kina Granis with the raw originality of Patti Griffin and Joni Mitchell.

Leanne Lightfoot

Leanne grew up in a house filled with music, horses, and a love of the outdoors. This was the start on her path to becoming a successful competitive dressage rider and trainer, and would ultimately play an integral part in her songwriting. The undeniable influences that horses and nature have had on her lif, are woven subtly into her music and noted with appreciation by those who share her love of both.

Lightfoot’s credits many influences in her music – Willy Nelson, Ian Tyson and Emmylou Harris, to name a few amongst many. But it wasn’t until she first heard a recording of singer/songwriter Iris Dement that something really changed for her. “I had never heard anything like it. It was startling, so I started writing.”

Ten years after releasing the ‘Redtail Flyer’ album, Leanne released ‘Still Knowing’ in February 2025.  It brings her smoke-laced vocals and timeless writing to the forefront with 10 new tracks that harness the many influences of her early years and temper them with the life lessons that come with the profoundly joyous and sorrowful experiences of a life lived in pursuit of personal truths, art, passion, and being human.

Typically, you’ll find Leanne performing with Jamie Newsom and Jim McLennan.

With upbeat, often comical banter between the trio, Newsom and McLennan add depth and texture to the nuanced collection of songs, where past and present meld and where heartache and hope coexist long after the music fades.

Brother Bicker Band

Picture where you were the first time that you heard that really, really great song… the first one that comes to mind – the song with the jangling guitars, pounding drums, thumping bass, moaning organ, thick vocal harmonies, and the lyrics that spoke directly to you. The one that changed your life. The song, every time you hear it, takes you back to a memory, a feeling, a love, a loss, an amazing moment…

Open your eyes and fast forward five, ten, fifteen or maybe even thirty years (or more)…. the Brother Bicker Band is trying to recapture that memory, that feeling, that love, that loss and that amazing moment in time with every song that they play, original or cover.

Featuring Taylor Miles on drums, Jim Duncan on bass, Jeremy Hrdlicka on vocals and acoustic guitar, Tom Mogan on guitar and vocals, Ben Ellard on keys and newcomers, Jennele Coulson and Claire Wilkes on vocals, these seven friends and bandmates bring a unique and refreshing take on the “roots” rock genre, best described as “maple whiskey rock n roll” – well-aged and a little bit harsh, it may burn a little at first. It has a touch of sweetness and is uniquely Canadian. And like whiskey, the more you indulge, the more fun you have and the better you feel….and if you have too much you just may forget everything.
