Introducing the Rocky Mountain Listening Room …

A New Chapter in Calgary’s Live Music Scene

After 50 years as a cherished part of Calgary’s music community, the Rocky Mountain Folk Club is proud to unveil its exciting new identity: the Rocky Mountain Listening Room. Beginning this September, the venue enters a bold new era of elevated performances, deep connection, and a commitment to supporting both emerging and established artists.

With a reimagined format and sophisticated new atmosphere, the Rocky Mountain Listening Room will feature one featured main artist each month, along with an “in-the-round” opener spotlighting two emerging artists alongside the main act. This new format is designed to build community, encourage collaboration, and give up-and-coming talent a platform alongside acclaimed headliners.

“We’re not just changing the name — we’re reshaping the experience,” says Nancy Laberge, one of the creative leads behind the rebrand. “The Rocky Mountain Listening Room is about more than music. It’s about belonging, discovery, and unforgettable nights shared with fellow music lovers.”

A Hub for Songwriters

Local and emerging songwriters, take note: we’ll soon be opening applications for our “in-the-round” performance slots. This is a rare opportunity to perform on a professional stage, connect with new audiences, and be part of a growing musical family.

The Rocky Mountain Listening Room will also host songwriting workshops with many of these mainstage artists, creating space for creativity, learning, and mentorship within the community.
