David Morrissey, Emilie Kirwan, and Dan Mills are three talented musicians who for years frequented the lively Oak Tree Tavern session on late Sunday afternoons. David, from County Kildare, has developed a percussive style of playing which has been described as the “engine” of sessions. Emilie is from Ballynacally, a village in Co. Clare, and is a marvelous fiddler. She has a Master’s degree in Traditional Irish music performance. And Dan Mills is an accomplished musician from Newfoundland. Danny was a mainstay in the band The Freels with Fergus O’Byrne and Maria Peddle.

Whether singing a traditional song from the British Isles or a modern song that sounds like it could be trad, Called By the Sea brings life to their music through energetic vocals and engaging instrumentation. Doug Baker and Michael Pollock are skilled musicians who have been part of the Calgary music scene for many years in a variety of groups (Twisted Roots, Tessitura, Diminished Fifth, Sunday Nite Band). They tell fascinating musical stories that will make you tap your feet, sing and laugh along.
